Analyzing the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for an ERP upgrade project - oneSAP Munich rollout at Infineon Technologies

  • An Enterprise Resource Planning (hereafter referred to as ERP) system project is a massive undertaking for any organization, and we have all heard about success and failure stories. Any organization needs support from a well-tuned ERP system for providing real-time data. hlowever, many companies complain that after their huge investments in ERP systems projects, they found the ERP systems do not meet the business process requirements to the extent needed, hlence, creating a value paradox, which raises the question - if such a project was a success or a failure? However, observing the improvement in the organization from such a project takes years. This research study will shed light on the successful implementation of such projects by comparing the Critical Success Factors (hereafter referred to as CSF) with previously conducted researches, on the success of other such projects. The research aims to compare the CSF from oneSAP Munich project at Infineon Technologies with the CSF obtained from the literature research. The literature foundation is laid out using research articles on CSF from a successful ERP implementation project from various sources. A list of CSF from the articles is derived and an analysis model is developed. Based on this analysis model a survey interview is conducted in Infineon Technologies to understand the CSF used in the project. Finally, the data collected is analyzed to conclude the thesis, if the CSF from oneSAP Munich is comparable with the ones from the literature research.
